Answers

  1. What's the difference between Wengo, OpenWengo and WengoPhone ?

Wengo is a standards-based SIP provider backed by the first French CLEC "Neuf Cegetel" that in turn sponsors the OpenWengo initiative. Our goal is to build community-driven software that addresses the shared needs of Voice Over IP users, by leveraging the many low-level Open Source components available today. The ubiquity of the Session Initiation Protocol, the need for a cross-platform communications system, and Free Software goodness are the cornerstones of the OpenWengo initiative.

WengoPhone is user-friendly software with Voice, Video, SMS, Chat and Presence capabilities, produced by OpenWengo under an OSI certified license. There are several versions available, just browse to the projects page to choose the one that fits your needs!

  2. How can I make a call to a regular or cell phone ?

You need to have credits on your Wengo SIP service account. You can purchase these with any major credit card from your personal control panel on the www.wengophone.com website. Check the rates for your call destination while you're there, then just start WengoPhone and dial "00 [country_code] [area_code] [number]".
